Kilpatrick, who was born in Yonkers, awarded Janet Warmbir, his high school English teacher, with the Teacher's Excellence Award. Warmbir was honored in an on-court ceremony at Barclays Center before the Nets played the Milwaukee Bucks.

Warmbir taught at White Plains for 38 years and made a significant impact in Kilpatrick's life. Warmbir received a Nets prize pack and a $500 Target gift card for classroom supplies. The Brooklyn Nets Foundation donated $1,000 to White Plains Community School.

Kilpatrick has become a key contributor for the Nets, who recently unveiled a bobblehead in his honor.
