He is one of only three players from Westchester selected for this international tournament, which will take place in February. Selection is based not only on exceptional skill but also on character, dedication and focus -- both on the ice and in the classroom.
A tryout process began Aug. 1 and ended Nov. 16., with more than 22 hours of highly competitive on-ice sessions as well as off-ice work. Ninety students from a 100-mile radius participated, vying for one of the 14 positions.
The team will travel to Quebec in February to compete against teams from the United States, Canada, Russia, Finland, Czech Republic and other countries.
Hockey’s equivalent of the Little League World Series, the program is run by Doug Messier, father of hockey legend Mark Messier.
