White Plains Students Land Major Scholarships, Internships

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Two White Plains High School students have been recognized by major corporations in recent weeks.

Senior Rose Reiken, who will attend Barnard College in the fall, has been awarded a Coca-Cola Scholar $20,000 scholarship. Students are selected on the basis of “academic excellent, leadership and achievement demonstrated in school and community activities.”  Reiken received the scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. 

Sophomore Caitlin Sergi, a student in White Plains High School’s Science Research Program, has been awarded a summer internship position at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in Tarrytown, through the company’s High School Mentorship Program. A few students from area high schools are selected each year for this highly competitive program. 

Sergi will spend the next two summers working alongside researchers at Regeneron, studying neurodegenerative diseases.
