White Plains Schools Invite Students To Walk, Bike To School

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – White Plains has organized a Walk/Bike to School Day on Wednesday.

Highlands Middle School – Meet at Druss Park at 7 a.m. Mayor Thomas Roach, Common Council Members Milagros Lecuona and Beth N. Smayda, Principal Ernest Spatafore, Assistant Principal Brent Brown and others will also be walking. Snacks, bottled water and raffles will be available at the end of the walk, followed by an ice cream party later in the day.

Eastview School – Meet at DelFino Park at 7:10 a.m. Make sure to turn in the permission slip before walking or biking. Snacks and water will be available for all who participate.

White Plains High School – PTA member Judy Eisele along with Schools Superintendent Paul R. Fried and others will be handing out water at corner of Bryant and North Streets starting at 7:15 a.m. Participants get a "get out of gym free class" pass. See gym teacher for more details.

George Washington Elementary School – Meet at Capital One Bank at North Broadway and Brookdale Avenue at 8:10 a.m or Grant Avenue and Beech Streets at 8:15 a.m. Many parents and administrators will also be walking. Snacks will be given out by ShopRite.

Ridgeway Elementary School – Meet at Mamaroneck Avenue by 8:15 a.m. to cross intersection with the mayor.
