The students raised more than $2,000 for their selected foundation, Candlelighters NYC, an organization dedicated to helping families get through the difficult times when a child is diagnosed with and being treated for cancer.

Candlelighters helps families by providing things like family support, food, material necessities, clothing, babysitting, and anything else that may brighten the day of a child battling cancer.

Barbara Zobian, the founder of Candlelighters NYC, visited the school on February 1st, order to express her deepest gratitude to the students of Team 8D. She gave each student a gold-ribboned pin with the face of one of hundreds of children her foundation supports.
