All of the children -- and even some parents, donned comfy clothing, bathrobes and slippers while carrying blankets and stuffed animals.

Adams, who has visited the school before in the past for a different literacy event, read tales to the children as they sprawled out on the floor or cuddled up with a parent.

The students also participated in arts and crafts and spent time with friends and family. Many VRES teachers, including Principal Ada Jimenez-Parker, were in attendance.

The Virginia Road Elementary School is at 86 Virginia Road, White Plains.
