The goal was to teach students about the academic path to college and inspire them to fulfill their aspirations and dreams by helping them to better understand the deep connection between colleges and careers.

To kick of the Friday, Jan, 29 event, every student took a career interest survey. The morning announcements for the week were tied to the theme of college and career day in which students read about a variety of exciting careers. Each classroom then invited one or two parents who made class presentations about particular careers.

The parents shared their experiences and what their career entailed. Class activities included a discussion and a writing reflection on the topic of “What I want to be when I grow up,” accompanied by an illustration.

Staff walked around in college alma mater attire to highlight the day that ended with students illustrating a banner that highlighted the year in which they would graduate college.
