Police Release Photo Of Suspected Bike Thief In Greenburgh

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh police have released a photograph of a suspect who is being sought in connection with the theft of a bicycle from a local residence.

Greenburgh police released this photo on Friday after a homeowner reported his son's Fuji Nevada bicycle was stolen. The above suspect reportedly left a purple bike on the property, police said.

Police received a report about the stolen bike from a home on Fort Hill Road on Thursday, Aug, 4, about 9:39 p.m., according to officials.

When police arrived at the scene, The homeowner stated that an unknown black male walked up the driveway to his residence and fled south on his son`s Fuji Nevada 1.6 bicycle, which had been parked at the top of the driveway at approximately 5:31 p.m. that evening, police said.

The alleged perpetrator appears to be a slim, black male with short black hair in his late teens to early 20s, wearing a red t-shirt with black markings on it, black shorts with a white stripe on each side and red and white Nike sneakers, according to officials.

The homeowner reports that when he walked down to the street after the bike was taken, he found a purple mountain bike leaning against a retaining wall at the front of his property, police said.

The homeowner believes the alleged thief rode the mountain bike to his residence and abandoned it to steal his son's bike, according to officials.
