Police received a report early Saturday morning of a boat in Long Island Sound that was possibly on fire and was taking on water and going down at the stern, police said.

When officers from the Marine Section arrived, they found no fire and deployed pumps.

The boat and its passengers were safely towed to Cos Cob for an emergency haulout.
