Harry Kyreakedes, who was seriously injured in the crash and being treated at Westchester Medical Center, has been with the New Rochelle PD for "a little over a year," according to city Manager Chuck Strome.

The passenger who died in the crash has been identified as 27-year-old Isaac Ward of Dobbs Ferry. Kyreakedes is a 2007 graduate of Dobbs Ferry High School, where he was a varsity wrestler.

The 27-year-old Kyreakedes' SUV slammed into a tree on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains just before 4 a.m.

The crash and subsequent investigation resulted in the closure of Mamaroneck Avenue between Rutherford Street and Livingston Avenue.

Strome said the City of New Rochelle would have no further comment "pending the criminal investigation by the White Plains Police Department.”
