The blaze at 44 Park Ave. was reported at 1:40 a.m. and fire companies were on the scene within minutes. The fire was primarily contained to the first floor of the five story, occupied dwelling, however there was some extension to the apartment above.
The two-alarm fire had 45 department members on the scene and multiple hose lines in operation. The main body of blaze was quickly knocked down.
The blaze left two families homeless and resulted in minor injuries to nine firefighters, according to News 12.
Two apartments needing relocation for the occupants and the Office of Emergency Management was on-scene for assistance.
The scene was clear and fire companies exited at 4 a.m. There were no reported injuries.
