Phillip J. Marinelli, 91, White Plains Resident

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Phillip J. Marinelli of White Plains died Sunday, March 6. He was 91.

He was born March 15, 1924, in New York City, the son of Mauro and Frances Marinelli. He graduated from White Plains High School in 1942. He married Mafalda Salvatore on Oct. 24, 1948, at Holy Innocent Church in Pleasantville. He served in the U.S. Army as technician fifth grade 3809th Quartermaster Truck Company from February 1943 to October 1945, stationed in Belgium.

He graduated with a degree in accounting from Pace University and worked in various positions as an accountant in the metropolitan New York area until his retirement in 1989. He was very active with his church and acted as prayer group leader at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church in White Plains. He was an enthusiastic and avid gardener for his entire adult life.

He is survived by his wife, Mafalda Marinelli; his four children and their families, Mauro (Patricia) Marinelli of Spencer, N.Y., Peter (Louise Marin) Marinelli of Valley Cottage, Paul Marinelli of Hartsdale and David (Sarah) Marinelli of Purdys; and his granddaughter, Daria Marinelli.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc., 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. A Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 920 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
