A new E-ZPass rule will go into effect next month, forcing all drivers with a New Jersey E-ZPass account to transfer to a New York E-ZPass account in order to keep their Tappan Zee Bridge Commuter Plan, reported lohud.com.
The 3,400 affected drivers who don't switch will have to pay the standard Tappan Zee E-ZPass toll of $4.75 per trip compared with the discounted rate of $3 beginning next month, said lohud.com.
The New York State Thruway Authority said it will be easier to have all Tappan Zee Bridge customers dealing with the New York E-ZPass service center. Residents of any state may sign up for a New York E-ZPass account, according to lohud.
