A mock terrorist attack in Lower Manhattan Sunday morning was the first test of the New York City Police Department’s Critical Response Team under conditions similar to those that occurred in Paris.
The 527 officers respond only to active shooters, terrorist-like attacks and active shooters strapped with suicide vests, Capital New York reports. Local and federal law enforcement agencies assisted, the article says. It's been in the works for over a year.
The scene was recorded on video will be used by the NYPD and partner agencies to learn more about the response and share with others in law enforcement, according to Facebook . It was staged in the Bowery Street Subway Station.
