Average Port Authority Pay Surpasses $100K

The average Port Authority of New York and New Jersey employee was paid $100,253 during 2015, up from $97,673 in 2014, according to the latest data accumulated by a non-partisan, Albany-based think tank.

According to data at SeeThroughNY, the Empire Center’s transparency website, 36 employees at the PANYNJ were paid more than $250,000 last year, including 25 who worked for its police department.

One in 10 of the PANYNJ police department employees, a total of 170 out of 1,649, was paid more than $200,000, the data reveals.

In addition to base pay, 72 PANYNJ employees more than doubled their income thanks to overtime, the Empire Center confirms.

The average PANYNJ employee was paid $14,924 in overtime, while the average PANYNJ police department employee collected $29,931, according to data.

The overtime champion was chief maintenance supervisor Stephen Olmo, who received $186,846 in overtime for a total paycheck of $325,880, jetting him ahead of PANYNJ executive director Patrick Foye, who was paid $305,111, according to the statistics.
