Requests For Holiday Gifts For Children In Need Answered By Scarsdale

SCARSDALE-- Holidays will be brighter for hundreds of kids whose wish lists were fulfilled by donations at the Westchester Jewish Community Services "Have a Heart Luncheon" in Scarsdale

The annual event at the home of resident Linda Plattus was attended by 60 guests.

Board members, along Plattus, Suzanne Yearley, Sarah Kayle, Nina Ross and Loretta Rosenbaum hosted the Dec. 6 luncheon, where guests brought gifts and gift cards for children across Westchester.

The center received 750 requests for toys for kids, ages infant to high school.

“For most Westchester families the holiday season is a time of joy and celebration. However, for too many of our neighbors, it is a stressful time and the Have a Heart event is a wonderful opportunity to brighten the lives of children and families in our local community," Plattus said.

WJCS serves 7,000 children annually through a network of programs including after-school, early literacy, mental health, domestic violence prevention and services for pregnant and parenting teens and LGBTQ youth.
