As the White Plains Hospital second annual Ex-STEP-tional Walking Challenge goes into its second week with 142 teams and over 700 participants, White Plains Mayor Tom Roach shares the secret behind the 92,648 steps he's logged from May 2 to May 8: His personal playlist.

If you're curious what a city mayor likes to listen to, it's a combination of 70’s punk with alternative pop, including "Rockaway Beach" by The Ramones, "Always On My Mind" by the Pet Shop Boys, "Shattered" by the Rolling Stones, "Ashes to Ashes" by David Bowie and "American Girl" by Tom Petty.

The Mayor's list also includes songs from Billy Joel, The Clash, Arcade Fire and The Smiths.

So far, his jovial tunes seem to be working, propelling Roach, leader of the “Irish Eyes Are ‘Milin'” team, to an impressive start to the four-week program.

Go to www.wphospital.org/exsteptional for more information. The Hospital will hold an awards luncheon on Thursday, June 23 to recognize the winners.
