WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester will host a fall symposium on Monday to discuss the best methods to combat sexual assault on college campuses.
According to event organizers, the 6-8 p.m. symposium will be held at the YWCA facility at 515 North St.
Calling the issue an “epidemic,” organizers said the event will focus, in part, on what can be done to alleviate the problem. The state’s “Enough is Enough” policy also will be among the topics discussed.
The symposium is being sponsored by a plethora of community businesses and organizations. It intends to open a “dialogue on what can be done to better protect our college students from rape and sexual assaults,” organizers said in a statement.
Entry to the event costs $25 per person, but is free for students. Kitley S. Convill, an attorney who previously worked for Westchester County and the city of Yonkers, will serve as moderator. Refreshments will be served.
