HARRISON, N.Y. -- More than 100 business and professional leaders from around Westchester County came together in Harrison to celebrate the Hanukkah holiday and learn about the work of UJA-Federation of New York.

Working with nearly 100 beneficiary agencies, synagogues and other Jewish organizations, UJA-Federation is the world’s largest local philanthropy, with a reach spanning from New York to Israel to more than 70 other countries around the world.

The reception, which attracted more than 100 guests, took place at the Business and Professional Division’s Hanukkah Reception on Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel in West Harrison.

Guests brought gifts and gift cards to the event, which were given to the young residents of the Edenwald Center in Pleasantville during UJA-Federation’s Gift of Hanukkah program on Sunday, Dec. 13, a day when volunteers bring the joy of the holidays to clients of its beneficiary agencies.

Edenwald, a coed residential treatment center that cares for young people with emotional and cognitive problems, is run by the Jewish Child Care Association, an agency that UJA-Federation supports.

“This evening fills me with gratitude for what I have and what I’m able to give,” Rick Koh of Armonk, chair of the event, told the gathering. “On behalf of those kids, many of whom may have gone without gifts during the holidays if not for your generosity, thank you.”

Susan Taxin Baer of Scarsdale and Ben Blumberg of Larchmont serve as co-chairs of the Westchester Business and Professional Division.
