Westchester Jewish Council Marks Holocaust With White Plains Ceremony

WHITE PLAINS, N. Y. -- Holocaust survivor Stanley Berger is the featured speaker at the annual Westchester Holocaust Commemoration ceremony set for Thursday, May 5, in White Plains.

The event, co-sponsored by the Westchester Jewish Council and the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center, is free and open to the public. It takes place from noon-1 p.m. in the Garden of Remembrance, 149 Martine Ave., White Plains.

In addition to remarks from Berger, the ceremony will feature a procession of 25 of Westchester's rescued Holocaust Torahs, and the involvement of students at Westchester Day School. Head of School Rabbi Josh Lookstein will the sound the shofar.

Representatives from synagogues and Jewish centers from throughout Westchester County are also participating. For details, visit the Westchester Jewish Council website .
