Nearly 200 organizations pulled out all the bells and whistles - including a miniature putting green, raffles and live radio show - as they showed off what the county can and does provide for local businesses at the Westchester Business Expo at the Hilton Westchester.

Deputy Westchester County Executive Kevin Plunkett said that the annual expo is an opportunity to showcase how viable the area is for businesses both small and large.

“The expo is important. It shows that Westchester is open to businesses,” he said. “Things like this help drive the economic engine here in Westchester. It’s important to have businesses come out and let people know what services are available in the county.”

It was a full service event at the Hilton Westchester, with gourmet catering at “hospitality suites,” provided by several local eateries, including Sam’s of Gedney Way, the Great American BBQ Co. and Broken Bow Brewery out of Tuckahoe.

“We’ve been coming here for nearly a decade, it’s by far the best networking event we attend in Westchester,” David Pellon, the Director of Catering for the NY Hospitality Group said. “It has a great combination of big and small players looking to mix ideas and get their names out there. It’s a great event to do that and promote business in Westchester.”

Grant Grastorf, the academic operations administrator for Fordham University in Westchester, is a veteran of the Westcehster Business Expo, having attended each year since 2008 when they opened the local campus.

“I’ve been to this event since the campus opened, and its a really good way to get out and meet the community, ” he said. “It’s a popular event. There are a lot of vendors and people come out from all over to showcase what they can offer the area.”
