Icy conditions were reported early Tuesday, as precipitation from Monday was freezing in roads, parking lots and sidewalks.

The winter weather advisory is in place for across the Hudson Valley with 3 to 5 inches of snow expected as the day wears on, the weather service said. Higher amounts are possible in some areas.

The snow will develop toward the end of the morning rush hour, the weather service said, and continue into the afternoon, tapering off for the evening rush hour.

Temperatures should stick close to 30 degrees.  Snow will make for icy and hazardous travel throughout the day.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain are possible, causing travel difficulties with slippery roads and limited visibility.
