All this legislation was turned out to be a knee-jerk reaction to the sad and tragic events in Newton. Let's get to the real problem of mental illness or other disabilities where individuals should not have access to guns. Unfortunately today if any of us want to even suggest that a person or neighbor might be unsuitable for guns or need any therapy, we risk being sued just for speaking out. Guns aren't killing people - the insane demented people kill people. Most of the licensed permits are honest, hard working people and there will always be the illegal guns on the black market that will continue to kill.Unfortunately, we will need more security personnel and metal detectors everywhere we go. Finally, the program mandates come through. It can be nothing but positive to have healthier choices. Hopefully, this will prevent or at least defer the health problems for these children as adults. Even if the home meals are poorly planned, the children will be educated enough to pick up good habits! View Comment

You don't appreciate a wonderful Police Department like the Village of Croton until you don't have it anymore! The only one of the above comments that is possible is maybe #5 - the rest of those suggestions are for private sector, not public. There are still public contracts and laws that must be followed and there is no negotiations on certain laws. Tell your officials in Albany they need to be addressed. View Comment

This is what the referendum should have been last time. But I am extremely disappointed with the school administration that this problem has been going on for a long time. Shouldn't the district get its finances in good order before putting up a bond referendum? It seems that this Board and administrators are dropping the ball with the budget and not paying attention to good budgeting practices. View Comment

I wholeheartedly agree this is not right time for this Board to even think of putting forth such a project. I suggest that the referendum be presented in multiple parts, so we have the opportunity to vote on needed, infrastructure issues and not luxury items. Otherwise, nothing will get approved and the district will lose out. View Comment
