As usual, we put off the most important factors in this project, mass transit and the lack of regional connectivity. Amazingly shortsighted, especially when one travels the world and sees how well planned other transportation systems are. This bridge, like most car-focused projects, will be obsolete the day it opens. View Comment

Sad to see another piece of history disappear in Yorktown. As a family relation to the Knapps and a family that fought along side them in the Revolution, it is particularly disappointing to know that my home town cares so little about its history and the people who built the town. If we could not even save the old STrang farm at the high school, how can we expect to save this place. I am sure a new parking lot and shopping center will be a major improvement to the 202 corridor -- and that the new development will not impact the Hunter Brook stream that flows directly behind this beautiful property. Of course we sign documents -- that say the hospital takes no responsibility if we don't follow them. We do not sign documents that say we give up our rights as humans, parents, and citizens. Even voluntarily signing into a mental health ward does not strip away our rights. These nurses tried to physically restrain a father and child -- unacceptable. They should care more about the health care workers who don't do their medical jobs. View Comment

I completely agree that the KEnnedys act entitled all the time and that the "authorities" generally let them do what they want, especially in New York -- BUT, in this case, I don't see that a parent is acting entitled with his own child! "Oh, and holding a person or persons against their will is a felony" - and if someone did that to me, I would most certainly feel entitled to protect myself and to move them out of my way. Hiring a personal injury lawyer is all I had to hear to know what this case is really about. I only wish that Northern Westchester was so careful about "rules" and healthcare when it came to my own family. View Comment

My major complaint about this news service is the lack of depth and background. This is a major story and all we get is a quote or two that say build it. What about the fact that the property has been fallow for years, or that tons of earth movement took place in the early years? What about the fact that the entire slope drains into the croton reservoir? What about the fact that this property borders Yorktowns turkey mtn park? Or even the historical, like the Lydia Locke estate turned private country club and ski area, followed for a time by an alcohol rehab center. Are there other options for this site? Should new york purchase to protect a degrading watershed? Should Yorktown purchase to expand the park? Should Yorktown approve a golf course at this time in history, when golf courses are closing nationwide? Lots to think about! View Comment

What great news for Yorktown! To think we were once truly the "Cornhuskers" because of our abundance of farms, dairy, and produce. At least we will have a Farmer's market near the Old Put which once took our milk and produce to market in NYC. View Comment
