The first night of work, which began at 8 p.m. Thursday, was expected to last until 5 a.m. Friday, according to the Thruway Authority. The ramp is expected to be closed during the same hours from Friday into Saturday morning.

Drivers trying to gain access to I-87 will be detoured to another on-ramp about 1 mile east on Route 119, according to the Thruway Authority.

The work will also require three northbound lanes of I-87 to be closed from Exit 8A (Elmsford - N.Y. Route 119 - Saw Mill River Parkways North) to the Tappan Zee Bridge at 11 p.m. on both nights. The closures are also expected to last into the early morning hours, according to Thruway Authority officials, who said that all lanes ought to be open by 7 a.m. the following morning.

The work will leave one northbound lane open to traffic and will not impact those drivers looking to exit northbound I-87 at Exit 9. All southbound lanes will remain open.

Thruway Authority officials said the closures are weather dependent and subject the change.
