An elderly lonely heart from Glen Rock was “sextorted” out of $20,000 after sending compromising photos to a scammer he thought was a woman -- and was about to hand over another 20 grand when his bank mercifully refused, authorities said.
Online romance scammer Ali H. Maman, 59, of Frederick, MD (photo above), has so far eluded authorities, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said this week.

Scam ALERT: Glen Rock Homeowner Loses $27,400 As Home Repair Con Men Prep For Spring
A roof repair scam cost a Glen Rock resident $27,400, prompting the borough police chief to warn citizens against con men who come to the door.
Two visiting scammers who claimed to be from Nassau County, on Long Island, offered to repair a partially damaged section of one victim’s roof for $3,400, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
No sooner had they begun their work than they suddenly “discovered” that the damage was “more extensive than originally thought,” the chief said.
They asked for an additional $24,000 and the resident subsequently wired them the money, he said.

Three people were injured in a two-car crash on County Road 513 in Hunterdon County on the evening of Saturday, Feb. 24, state police said.
At 8:54 p.m., a Nissan traveling on Whitehead Road attempted to make a left onto County Road 513 and crashed into a Jeep SUV traveling southbound, Troy McNair, a spokesman for New Jersey State Police said. The collision caused the Jeep SUV to collide with a fence, McNair said.

A 16-year-old driver with her learner’s permit was hospitalized after a pinball crash in Glen Rock flipped their SUV, authorities said.
Her father told police she was out practicing with him when she made a right too wide off Maple Avenue and their Honda CR-V struck a vehicle stopped at the stop sign on Rodney Street shortly before noon Saturday, Dec. 16, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
