WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Friday is the last day for boys and girls in grades five through eight to pre-register for tryouts for the City of White Plains travel basketball program, the Recreation Department announced.
To try out, you have to pre-register at the Recreation and Parks Department, 85 Gedney Way. The department is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A recreation supervisor and coaches evaluate players during tryouts and select up to four teams of 12 players for both boys and girls.
Tryouts are free, but the program costs $350. Those who meet the income guidelines for a scholarship pay $175.
Tryouts are at George Washington Elementary School, 100 Orchard St., as follows:
- Girls – 5th/6th grade – Tuesday, Oct. 16, and Wednesday, Oct. 17, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
- Girls – 7th/8th grade – Tuesday, Oct. 16, and Wednesday, Oct. 17, 8 to 9:30 p.m.
- Boys – 5th/6th grade – Thursday, Oct. 18, and Friday, Oct. 19, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
- Boys – 7th/8th grade – Thursday, Oct. 18, and Friday, Oct. 19, 8 to 9:30 p.m.
