White Plains tops Port Chester in District 20 Play

ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- Brendan McDonough slammed a three-run home run in the sixth inning to put the final touches on an 11-1 victory Saturday as the White Plains 11- 12-year-old team defeated Port Chester in a District 20 Little League opening-round game at McDowell Field in Ardsley.

White Plains moves on to next week's second round as does Port Chester, which suffered only its first loss in the double-elimination tournament. The tournament continues through July 7 with games in Ardsley, White Plains, Harrison and Mount Pleasant.

Javy Perez had two doubles to help White Plains.

Rain fell in the sixth inning after McDonough's home run, but the game continue after a short delay.

In other first-round games, Ardsley topped Kensico 5-1, Eastchester defeated Elmsford 5-0 and Sherman Park defeated Scarsdale 8-2.
