He is one of only three players from Westchester selected for this international tournament, which will take place in February 2016.

Selection is based not only exceptional skill but also on character, dedication and focus, both on the ice and in the classroom. A tryout process began Saturday, Aug. 1 and ended Monday, Nov. 16, with over 22 hours of highly competitive on-ice sessions as well as off-ice work. Ninety students from a 100-mile radius participated, vying for one of the 14 coveted positions.

The team will travel to Quebec in February to compete against teams from the U.S., Canada, Russia, Finland, Czech Republic and more.

Hockey’s equivalent of the Little League World Series, the program is run by Doug Messier, father of hockey legend Mark Messier.
