White Plains Seeks First Win Against Clarkstown

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The Whit Plains Tigers showed flashes of talent and ability in last week’s tough 19-15 loss to visiting North Rockland and with a week’s work behind them will travel to Clarkstown North Friday night in search of their first victory of the season in a 7 p.m. start.

Halfback Darrell Everett proved to be a mercurial force on offense for the Tigers, scoring both touchdowns on long plays where he outran everyone. Everett’s first score was a crowd-pleasing 64-yard touchdown sprint. He followed that thrilling run with a 77-yard punt return for a touchdown, darting through missed tackles and outrunning every player on both teams to the end zone.

Clarkstown North defeated rival North Rockland 17-10 on opening day and trounced a weak Lincoln team 47-0 last week. White Plains will provide a challenge to the home-standing Rams and offer more team speed than either North Rockland or Lincoln has.

White Plains quarterback Jeff Every showed his ability by holding up under a strong pass rush to complete 9 of 20 for 80 yards. Several passes were tipped or dropped, so Avery can be effective. Halfback Jaeshon Brooks could not get going Friday night but can be a potent rusher. White Plains’ defense showed that it can stop a good offense, holding North Rockland to 198 yards of total offense, but the offense needs to execute better from the front line back to the backfield.
