White Plains' Nunez Named Fighting Tiger Of The Week At SUNY Cobleskill

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.  The SUNY Cobleskill Department of Sport & Exercise named senior Alexis Nunez, a graduate of White Plains High School and a member of the men’s basketball team, the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete of the Week.

The White Plains native was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2015 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Tournament after leading the Fighting Tigers to their first-ever NEAC Championship and NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament Automatic Bid.

Nunez  averaged 26.0 points per game on 66.7 percent (18-of-27) shooting from the field and 76.2 (16-of-21) percent from the free throw line to go along with 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assist and 1.0 steal per game over two games.

Nunez opened the tournament with a bang on Saturday, with a career-high 33 points, while also adding four assists and four rebounds in a 79-69 win over Penn State Abington in the tournament’s semifinals.

The senior then followed that up with a game-high 19 points in the 49-46 win over tournament host Lancaster Bible College that clinched the title for Cobleskill on Sunday.
