After a tough loss to the Ossining Pride last week, the White Plains Tigers bounced back with a 36 to 14 win over the visiting Scarsdale Raiders. Under the bright lights of Loucks Stadium at White Plains High School the team of 7th and 8th graders put on an impressive display of offensive firepower and hard-hitting defense. Head Coach Chris Hatzilouloudes used multiple running backs throughout the game. It seemed he always had a fresh pair of legs to carry the ball. No fewer than seven players ran the ball at various times.

Hatzilouloudes orchestrated the game plan to perfection, having quarterback Brody McGuinn run a mix of power football along with 5 of 7 passing attempts. Operating behind the outstanding offensive line blocking of Johnny Pasqualini, Jacob Petfield, Anthony Moronta, Reuban Villa and Alex Sagnibene, a parade of running backs piled up the yardage.

On the ground, there were two touchdowns by Jayson Crilley, and one each by Sidney Moshette and Nazir Hibbert. On his way to a 100-yard rushing night, Christos Hatzilouloudes hauled in a 28-yard TD pass from McGuinn, got hit at the 5-yard line but bulled his way into the end zone to conclude the first half. On the defensive side of the ball, Coach Chuck Gray installed a new defensive scheme that had linebackers Caleb Gillen and Avery Turten forcing three fumbles, while defensive backs Sean Larkin, Josiah Gilbert , Michael Huebner, and Nazir Hibbert collected two interceptions. Gillen and Co. were simply awesome in running Coach Gray’s new defense.

The Tigers, who play in the Westchester United Football League, are on the road this week as they travel north to take on the Shrub Oak Hornets on Saturday, Oct. 4.
