White Plains Bernies Fifth-, Sixth-Grade Football Heads To Playoffs

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The White Plains Bernies fifth- and sixth-grade football team (7-1) defeated the formerly unbeaten Tarrytown Wolfpack (7-1) by a score of 28-0 on Nov. 9 at the Highlands Middle School football field.

The White Plains Bernies goes into the playoffs as the number 1 seed.

The win makes the Bernies the number 1 seed in the Westchester Youth Football League ranking for the upcoming Saturday playoff game.

The Bernies dominated throughout, scoring twice in the first half and twice in the second half. In the third quarter, quarterback Matt Halas threw a pass to tight end Colin D’Arcy who ran it into the end-zone for a 22-0 lead.

Coach Bill Ahearn said that this was one of the best games he has ever been involved with in his 10 years as a coach.
