WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- White Plains hosted a "Compete in the Parks" Tennis Tournament over the weekend, drawing more than 45 competitors from the area.
The White Plains Recreation and Parks Department hosted the U.S. Tennis Association “Compete in the Parks” tennis tournament Saturday and Sunday at the City’s Gillie tennis courts, according to a release from the city. The tournament was a part of a USTA program "designed to promote recreational tennis, where players of all levels can meet and be exposed to tournament play," according to the release.
More than 45 individuals competed in tournament play and the winners were "crowned and awarded plaques for their accomplishments," according to the release. The city thanked Mary Ellen Bickler of Brown-Bickler Company for providing refreshments and Don Barker for volunteering on the tournament.
