During Bicycle Sundays, a portion of the Bronx River Parkway is closed to cars for the exclusive use of bicyclists, joggers, walkers, scooters and strollers. The course runs from Exit 22 at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, south to Exit 4/Scarsdale Road in Yonkers, a round-trip of 13.1 miles. There are many points of entry and exit along the way.

Bicycle Sundays, the popular, long-running Westchester County Parks program, sponsored by Con Edison and New York Presbyterian Hospital, is held on the Bronx River Parkway in May, June and September each year. The bonus event, which comes one week after the final regularly scheduled Bicycle Sunday of the year Sept. 27, is being added to the calendar as a “makeup” for a pair of rain cancelations this past spring.

“As dry as it has been this summer and fall, we did actually have a couple of rainy Sundays this past spring,” said Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino. “I hope that everyone takes advantage of what we expect will be a beautiful autumn day and join us on Oct. 4.”

Parking is available at the County Center lot in White Plains for a fee of $7. In the event of rain, the program is canceled.
