Variano Brothers Score Four in White Plains' Loss

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- New Rochelle struck quickly and then answered White Plains back whenever the Tigers pulled close in a 7-4 Section 1 hockey win, Friday, at the Ice Hutch.

The Hugunots improved to 13-5, with victories in four of their last five games. New Rochelle has two regular-season games remaining, Monday, against Eastchester/Tuckahoe/Bronxville and Tuesday, Feb. 14, against Sleepy Hollow/Irvington.

The Huguenots Chris Ramondelli had a hat trick and three assists in a big night for his line. Linemates Kenny McLean added two goals and two assists and Brett Barry collected four assists and a goal.

Ramondelli scored twice in a 95-second span of the first period, at the two-minute and 3:35 mark, then McLean netted his first goal of the game at 4:15. White Plains answered on goals by Paul and Phil Variano, only to have Ramondelli scored with 34 seconds in the period, building a 4-2 lead.

Phil and Paul Variano scored in the second period to even the score at 4-4, but New Rochelle tallied twice, in a 23-second span, to regain the lead.

Barry, assisted by Ramondelli and McLean, snapped the tie with 1:39 remaining in the second period. Twenty-three seconds later, McLean scored, with Ramondelli and Barry assisting.
