WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Two Archbishop Stepinac football players received offers to play at the University of Rhode Island on Friday.

Gavin Heslop, a cornerback and running back, and Dwayne Scott, a lineman, received offers from the Rams.

Heslop has rushed for 397 yards and six touchdowns. The Yonkers resident also has three interceptions, including one he returned 80 yards for a touchdown.

Scott, who stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 290 pounds, is also a starter for the Crusaders (12-0), who play Saturday, Nov. 15, against St. Peter's in the semifinals of the Catholic League playoffs. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Stepinac.

Stepinac running back Malcolm Major received an offer from Assumption College earlier this month.

Coach Jim Fleming is finishing his first year as coach at Rhode Island. The Rams meet Stony Brook on Saturday.
