NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The awards continue to roll in for Rashaad Slowley.
The Southern Connecticut State University running back was named the Joe Zabilski Award Winner by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. The award is given annually to New Englands top football players in Division II and Division III.
Slowley, a Stepinac graduate, had a record-setting season. He was the Northeast-10 Conference Most Valuable Player and was one of the nine finalists for the Harlon Hill Award, given annually to the Division II top player. Slowley was also named to the Daktronics All-Region first team.
He set single-season program records for touchdowns -- 29 -- and touchdowns in a game -- six. Slowleys 29 touchdowns and 174 total points had him third in the country on all college levels. He carried 274 times for 1,584 yards and 27 scores. Slowley also caught 21 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns.
Slowley finished his Southern Connecticut career second all-time in rushing (3,460 yards), touchdowns (45) and points (272).
