White Plains is unable to play in the game because of a state rule that limits the number of contests that a high school football team can participate in each year outside of sectional or state playoff games. Saturday’s Class AA championship between White Plains and North Rockland high schools will be the ninth game for the Tigers, which puts them at the maximum number, LoHud.com reported.
The Turkey Bowl between White Plains and Stepinac has been played every year since 1971, according to LoHud.com.
