New Rochelle Stops Scarsdale To Win Second Straight AA Football Title

MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle high school football team put on one of its best performances of the season Saturday afternoon, clicking on all cylinders to roll past No. 5 Scarsdale, 41-13, and win its second consecutive class AA championship.

Section 1 has a bye in the next round, so New Rochelle (10-0) automatically advances to the state semifinals and will next play at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Dietz Stadium in Kingston.

New Rochelle got a big day from junior Jared Barron, who won Offensive MVP honors with over 100 yards rushing and a touchdown. Junior Romeo Holden had three touchdowns for the Raiders, the No. 2 ranked team in the state. Najee Bass scored New Rochelle's final touchdown, on a 79-yard breakaway.

it was New Rochelle's 11th section 1 title since 2000.

Scarsdale got two touchdowns from Barry Klein.
