Cameron came to White Plains from the Poughkeepsie School District, where he was Director of Athletics from 2006 to 2015.

A high school athlete who played soccer, basketball and lacrosse (a sport he played in both high school and at Division I Rutgers), Carmeron said specialization is one of the many challenges high school sports programs must navigate today.

"When students specialize in one sport from an early age, it has a domino effect," Cameron told Daily Voice. "When I was in school, athletes played two or three sports… Now so many play just one. It has an impact on how deep teams are, and how many kids come out."

Cameron also said he loves the support he has gotten from parents and kids alike in White Plains since taking over.

"I love the kids," he said. "We have a great coaching staff, a lot of great support from the district, and amazing facilities. And the community is really behind the program."
