Jaden and Kyle Snow of Mamaroneck took their talents to Lawrence, Kansas recently, where they both made a coveted trip to the podium after falling behind and storming to strong finishes at the national competition.

Competing in the boy’s 9-10 triathlon - which features the shot put, high jump and 400-meter sprint - Kyle found himself in 10th place after struggling in the shot put. By virtue of a 1:10.73 finish in the 400-meter race, he found himself in third place, earning a bronze medal.

His brother, competing in the pentathlon, struggled early on, landing in 13th place entering the last race, the 1,500-meter race. Jaden ran the fastest time in the event (5:04.23) and catapulted himself into sixth place, good for a spot at the podium.

By virtue of their podium finish, the brothers got to meet one of their favorite athletes, two-time gold medalist Ashton Eaton, a decathlete who has claimed the top prize at the last two Olympics.

“I am still in disbelief that I was able to meet Ashton Eaton a day before my competition,” Jaden stated. “To receive my medal from him the next day was so amazing,”
