WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The City of White Plains Youth Bureau will hold a Summer Program Open House on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to highlight the programs offered by the bureau during the summer months.
This event is also an opportunity for parents and children to get to know the many programs offered by the City of White Plains Youth Bureau. Parents will have the opportunity to register for the 2015 Bits N’ Pieces Summer Enrichment Camp, held at Church Street School. Parents and youth in White Plains will also meet program staff, learn about the more than 50 different after- and out-of-school programs and activities offered at the bureau.
The majority of programs offered by the Youth Bureau are free for White Plains residents. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and register early to ensure their children are productively engaged during the summer and the next school year. Refreshments, prizes and giveaways will be offered.
Applications will be available for the Let’s Get Ready SAT Prep program, which offers eligible students an eight-week tutorial on the SAT exam. Additionally, parents can register for the Youth Bureau’s Summer STEM initiative (space is limited), and the summer Healthy & Fit for Life Boot Camp.
Aubrey Lynch, former dancer and choreographer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and former associate producer of Disney’s “The Lion King,” will launch ALEEArts, a two week theater arts program offering students training in dance and music. The youth employment staff will be on hand to discuss summer job opportunities along with the summer application process.
