White Plains Students Perform At Concerto Concert

YONKERS, N.Y. -- The 38th Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra “Concerto Concert” will be on Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m., at Saunders High School, 183 Palmer Road, in Yonkers.

The YPO runs an annual "Concerto Competition" for Westchester County High School students. 

Winners of the competition receive a scholarship and are given the opportunity to perform as soloists at the Annual Yonkers Philharmonic “Young Artists Concerto Concert."

The music to be performed at the concert was composed by Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Horovitz and Verdi. 

This year's winners and concert soloists are as follows:

  • First place: David J. Sacks - Greenwich, piano
  • Second place: Max Bobby - Larchmont, cello
  • Third place: Neerav Kumar - Rye, clarinet 
  • Fourth place: Annling Wang - Scarsdale, piano 
  • Fifth place: Elena Hausknecth - White Plains, euphonium
