White Plains Schools Closed Friday

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – White Plains public schools announced it is closing all schools and offices Friday.

In anticipation of snow fall Friday, two White Plains private schools announced closures and early dismissals.

Additionally, the Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel announced it will close Friday. Stepinac High School will have early dismissal at 1 p.m.

The New York School for the Deaf in White Plains will also close Friday.

While no snow fell in White Plains as of 5 a.m., as much as three to seven inches of snow is possible during the day, becoming heavier at night with a low around 21 degrees. Another six to 10 inches of snow could accumulate, according to the National Weather Service. The blizzard warning is in effect until 1 p.m. Saturday. Strong winds and poor visibility is likely, and the National Weather Service advises drivers to stay off the roads. Saturday, snow is likely before 9 a.m. The rest of the day will be mostly sunny with a high near 30 and low around 11 degrees. Sunday will be sunny with a high near 35 and a slight chance of snow showers at night. The low is 21. Monday, snow showers are likely before noon, followed by a chance of rain continuing into the night. The high is 41 and the low is around 33, according to the National Weather Service.
