WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. Residents with financial, accounting or auditing experience are asked to apply to join the White Plains City School District's Finance and Audit Committee.
The committee provides financial oversight for the school district. It includes three Board of Education members, the superintendent of schools and the school business administrator/treasurer. Additionally, it has included two community members over the past several years who have served for one-year terms. This position will be from Oct. 1 to June 30.
"Since their participation has been invaluable to the committee, the suggestion was made to expand the number of community members from two to three," Michele Schoenfeld, district clerk, said in a press release.
The committee meets once a month from 5 to 7 p.m. at Education House during the school year.
Interested people may send resumes addressed to District Clerk, 5 Homeside Lane, White Plains, NY 10605. The deadline is Sept. 12. Applicants will be interviewed by the current committee. Appointments will be made at the Board of Education's regular meeting in October.
State education law stipulates that committee members may not be employees of the district or have provided goods or services to the district within the past two years, or have a direct interest in or be related to a principal in any company providing goods or services to the district.
