WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - A pair of White Plains High School sophomores took home first and second place in the animal science category at the Westlake Science Fair this past weekend.
Gabriella Alexandrou won the first place trophy for her project, "The Effects of Orally-Administered Dehydroepiandrosterone on Osteoporosis in the Rat." Angelica Duque won second place for her project, "The Effects of Anthropogenic Noise in Cetaceans in Regard to Temporary Threshold Shift."
Both students are conducting their proposed research projects as part of White Plains High School's Science Research Program. They are two of the fourteen White Plains students, and 260 from across Westchester, to present at the fair.
The 13 categories students competed in include animal sciences, behavior, cellular and molecular biology, engineering and medicine and health.
