WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains will host two sessions of workshops conducted by Successful Study Skills 4 Students this summer.

One is designed for middle school students and the other for high school students. The workshops foster academic achievement by teaching students key study strategies that help them learn while reducing stress.

Both the middle and high school workshops will be held from Tuesday, Aug. 19 through Thursday, Aug. 21 at Stepinac, 950 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains.

“Study skills are critical and the necessary foundation for academic success,” said Principal Paul Carty. “We are excited to make this successful program available to both our and students from our neighboring communities so that they may learn these important tools — right before the start of school.”

The S4 program is founded on educational research and evidence-based studies. Its highly interactive approach is designed to demonstrate how to apply students’ own curriculum and course material to the taught methodologies and systems. The workshops are taught by accredited teachers and each class is limited to 15 students.

Students will learn essential, logical and easy-to-implement skills that are essential for successful learning and studying. These include: goal setting, time management, note-taking methods, asking questions, active reading, understanding main ideas and important details, using visuals, summarizing to learn, notebook organization, and quiz, test, and long-term project preparation strategies.

Middle school classes will run from 9-11:30 a.m. High school workshops will run from noon-2:30 p.m.
