Register to Vote on White Plains School Budget

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Residents can register to vote on the White Plains school budget April 28 from noon to 5 p.m. at Mamaroneck Avenue School.

To register, you must be a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age or more and a White Plains resident for at least 30 days prior to the election. If you have voted in a general election in the past four years, you are already registered. If you have moved within the City of White Plains since they last voted you may also re-register at this time.

There will be three board of education seats up for election May 15: Donna McLaughlin, James Hricay and Peter Bassano.

Bassano, who has been on the board since 2002, has submitted a petition to run for re-election. Hricay, in his first term on the board, is also expected to run for re-election. The school district has also received a candidate petition from newcomer Rose Lovitch, said Michele Schoenfeld, district clerk.

The deadline for candidate petitions is April 25. The board of education elections and budget vote will be May 15 from noon to 9 p.m., in six voting districts
