WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Pace University's School of Education will honor Sister St. John Delany, director and founder of its Center for Literacy Enrichment, in a ceremony that will name the center after her on Thursday, April 30 at 10:30 a.m.

The new name of the center will be The Delany Center for Educational Enrichment. The Center is on the Pace University Law School Campus, at 78 N. Broadway in White Plains.

Delany taught first grade in White Plains from 1941 to 1972 before founding the Center for Literacy Enrichment and becoming an associate professor in the School of Education at Pace University. Delany's former students include U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins, NFL great Robert “Bob” Hyland and Pat Casey, editor of the White Plains Examiner.
